The Copywriter Mindset
Simply In Letters
This will be the first of many letters that I will bring to the surface. My name is Noah Driscoll, and I would like to formally introduce myself. I am a copywriter who works with personal brands, info products, agencies, e-commerce brands, and anything under the sun that you can think of. I will work with them.
I believe when freelance copywriting or running a copywriting agency, there shouldn’t be a singular niche you should only work with. That can be for another topic.
I have been writing and being a copywriter for a little over a year and a half now. I have had good experiences and bad experiences, but both have led to lessons being learnt for their specific reasons.
My goal for this next year is to build my income with copywriting and then also build this newsletter to provide my insight and stories so that anyone who reads this has the same opportunity that I have.
I hope to get to know you throughout this process in any way you’d like.
Got a question? Reply to this letter, and we can chat.
Have a letter topic suggestion you’ve been dying to know? Shoot me back, and I’ll get that asap.
Whatever there is that you’d like to hear or talk about, I am here to do so; don’t be nervous!
Have you ever wondered what separates ordinary writing from words that make sales happen like clockwork?
The answer lies in what I call "The Copywriter Mindset" – a perspective I've developed over the past 18 months that has consistently delivered 100% profits across every project and client I've worked with.
WHAT IS COPYWRITING, EXACTLY?
If you're new to this world, copywriting is the art of using words to persuade and sell. It's creating content that drives action – whether through emails, ads, websites, or social media platforms.
But in simpler terms, you're crafting words that convert readers into buyers, boosting revenue for your clients while providing genuine value to their audience.
THE FIVE PILLARS OF THE COPYWRITER MINDSET
After 18 months in this industry, I've identified five critical elements that create the foundation for copywriting success:
Master the Fundamentals – Develop a working knowledge of sales psychology, marketing principles, and writing at a fifth-grade reading level (where most persuasive copy lives).
Format for Results – Learn the structural blueprints for high-converting deliverables: emails, ad copy, website content, product descriptions, sales pages, and VSLs (video sales letters).
Perfect Your Outreach – Develop skills in Instagram DMs, cold emailing, and Twitter messaging to connect with potential clients (these fundamentals transfer to any platform).
Target Strategically – Identify prospects with an established online presence and analyze what they already have (email lists, digital products, landing pages) to spot improvement opportunities.
Master the Conversation – When you capture a prospect's attention, know how to articulate your value proposition and convert them into paying clients.
THINKING LIKE A COPYWRITER CHANGES EVERYTHING
Once you understand the mechanics of copywriting, the real transformation begins. You start thinking differently.
You begin noticing what works (and what doesn't) in every marketing message you encounter. You develop an instinct for what needs to be fixed, what's performing well, and what tweaks could dramatically improve results.
When I first started, my mind wasn't calibrated to fully leverage this potential. The turning point came when I shifted into the copywriter mindset – suddenly, opportunities appeared everywhere, and my results skyrocketed.
BEYOND BUSINESS: THE PERSONAL TRANSFORMATION
Here's what surprised me most: the copywriter mindset extends far beyond your professional work.
It becomes your secret weapon in everyday life.
1. Magnetic Conversations
You'll naturally structure conversations with clear openings that hook interest, substantive middles that deliver value, and closings that inspire action. Friends and family will wonder why they suddenly become more engaged when talking with you.
2. Unstoppable Productivity
The headline-subheadline-body structure trains your brain to organize tasks with ruthless clarity. My to-do lists transformed from overwhelming catalogs to focused action plans with clear priorities and compelling "why" statements that drive completion.
3. Psychological Triggers in Self-Talk
We all talk to ourselves. Copywriters just do it better. When I catch my inner voice saying "I can't," I immediately reframe it using the same techniques I use in sales copy. "What if I could?" becomes my pattern interrupt, followed by benefit-rich reasoning that convinces my subconscious to take action.
4. Irresistible Personal Branding
Every social media post, every email to colleagues, and every interaction becomes an opportunity to strengthen your brand. You'll naturally communicate your unique value proposition in ways that make people want to connect with you.
5. Accelerated Learning Curve
The copywriter's obsession with clarity forces you to distill complex concepts into simple language. I've found this single-handedly transforms how quickly I absorb new information in any field – because if you can't explain it simply, you haven't truly understood it.
This mindset isn't just about selling products – it's about upgrading how your brain processes the world around you.
PERSONAL NOTE
If you've read this far, thank you. Though this is my first newsletter, I'm committed to delivering genuine value to you and anyone else who reads these words.
My vision is to build a community of like-minded copywriters and personal growth enthusiasts who seek to design their lives on their terms while pursuing shared interests.
This is just the beginning. Look for next week's letter, and please reach out with any comments or questions. I want this to be a two-way conversation that strengthens our relationship and community.
Have a topic suggestion related to copywriting or personal development? I'm all ears.
You can also reach out to either my Instagram or X (Twitter).
Keep creating; we'll talk next week.
